morning voicemail from Momrat
"Good MORNing!
So I'm in the car and I was listening to NPR and they had this special on twenty-somethings. You know. Except they were talking about 19- to 25-year-olds. They called that "emerging adulthood" and they said that most kids that age still count on their parents for a lot of things. You know, money things and stuff. And I thought, wow, Moonrat is 24--right there in that group! And she's...pretty independent. So...good job, kiddo!
Also, I was wondering, can you maybe bring a really big suitcase with you to the Caribbean? But it would be good if you could only pack a little and leave a lot of space for other people's [read: her] stuff.
That's all!! Have a wonderful day!"

Have fun!!!!
And happy holidays!
Ha ha ha ha ha...actually, I think I was almost 28 before my dad stopped saying, "Do you need gas money" after a visit.
Gas money was code for $100 to get through until payday.
LOL!!! Yay for being an independent moonrat! And yay for the Caribbean! (Wave to Johnny and Orlando for me! oh. wait.)
I wasn't very independent money wise at 24 because I was in graduate school. I was independent in other ways but I still had to tap mom for cash on occassion.
Dear Very Young Moonrat,
I had no idea. You read much older! Thoughtful and independent beyond your years.
Katherine
Sounds like you too have a great relationship, and that you're going to have a blast in the Carribean. Drink a pina colada for me.
Have fun in ye olde Carribeane.
yay for the carribean and being independent and mature! i married at 23 but my mom will *always* ask me if i need cash. =X

Good job, kiddo! ;)
I'm 31, and nothing changes. Especially Momrats. They're like fruitcake.
Have fun on your trip!
HYSTERICAL! Lovely.
do have fun, suffering in the Carribbean sunshine. I laughed when I read the part about leaving a lot of space in the luggage. Just pack a lightweight duffle in there for the loot! That's what I did when I went to Paris!
have a great time :) and if you feel inspired to make a surprise trip someplace on nye, we would love to have you.
